On the eve of the Holy Ramadan, regional office of the AAPO “Alraid” in Crimea, with sponsorship from the Kuwait organization “Ar-Rahman Al-Amin (“World Charity”) and the Kuwait Organization on Collection and Distribution of Zakat, organized distribution of food kits to the poor and orphans.
Actions like this are meant to supply poor Muslims with the required kit of foods for this month, encourage their fasting and implement the Islamic principles of brotherhood and mutual support.
According to the announcement of the Religious Administration of Muslims of Crimea and the Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine “Ummah”, confirmed by the resolution of the European Council for Fatwas and Research, Ukrainian Muslims begin to fast this year on July, 20. The new moon that marks the beginning of Ramadan occurred on Thursday, July, 19. It could be watched in Makkah and most of Arab and Muslim countries.
On the eve of Ramadan – 2012 (1433 by hijra), the Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine “Ummah” and the All-Ukrainian Association of Public Organizations “Alraid” invited, by tradition, theological scholars from other countries to Ukrainian Islamic cultural centers, to extend and enrich the knowledge of Ukrainian Muslims. Eight theological scholars came to Ukraine to stay in the Holy month with communities of the faithful in Ukrainian cities by the Association request and with support from embassies of the Saudi Arabia Kingdom and the Arabic Republic of Egypt, and wakf ministries of both countries. They are supposed to lead collective prayers, teach local Muslims to read the Holy Koran and deliver lectures.
“Contemporary Islamic studies in Ukraine as a scientific field still remain at the formation phase and do not have significant scientific gains” is a conclusion made from the I International summer school of Islamic studies. This five days event (from 10 till 14 July) was held in Simferopol.
The All-Ukrainian Association of Public Organizations (AAPO) “Alraid” has taken on to watch over more than 1800 orphan children from various regions of Ukraine (of which a major part resides in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (ARC)) given the sponsorship from charitable organizations and private persons who are residents and non-residents of Ukraine. However, the “Alraid” effort is not confined to the Muslim orphans care, as regular feasible aid has also been rendered to orphan houses and boarding schools irrespective of confessional belonging of their pupils.
It is the seventh time that the annual camp in the nature’s lap, which has already been traditional one, was organized on 13-15 July in the town of Konstantinvka by the All-Ukrainian Association of Public Organizations (AAPO) “Alraid” and the Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine (RAMU) “Ummah”. The participants were enjoying the time with double benefit in the encampment pitched near a water pool, as water and fresh air were useful for body, whereas learning, collective prayers, discussions of vital issues and search for their solutions were good for mind and soul.
I International Summer School of Islamic Studies “Islam and Muslims in Ukraine” opens today in the Islamic Center of Simferopol. Its participants are twenty young scientists and post-graduates from various regions of Ukraine.
16 years old Albert Akhtemov, a participant of the International Competition of Koran Readers from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), was back to the homeland on Sunday, July 7, 2012. It was the first time that the third year student of the Higher Hafiz School in Simferopol attended a high level event like this, and came back to Ukraine with strong determination to perfect his knowledge of the Holy Book and its tajuid.
Seven days long cultural and education seminar for Ukrainian Muslim women who have recently adopted Islam, organized by the Department for women, children and teenagers affairs at AAPO “Alraid” and the Women’s Public Organization “Mariyam”, was held in 27 June – 3 July 2012. Its participants learned rules of reading of the Koran (tajuid) by an advanced computer method not used earlier in similar events, under the supervision of teachers from Saudi Arabia.
Sheih Mohammad Nuh Al-Kudah from Jordan came with a friendly visit to the Islamic Cultural Center in Kiev on Friday, June 29, 2012. As his visit fell onto the day of congregational prayer of Muslims, the respected guest was invited to deliver the Friday sermon.
