Together We Restore Historical Heritage

Association "Аlraid" took part in the conference devoted to protection of historical and cultural monuments of
Crimea.

As the organizer of the action acted the government of the ARC which is disturbed by the present situation concerning cultural heritage of the Crimean peninsula.


Representatives of various state structures, known historians and culturologists, and also representatives of charitable and social organizations participated in the conference work, including the chairman of the Crimean branch of the AUASO "Аlraid", Mohammed Taha.

According to the results of the meeting the participants unanimously agreed in opinion that it is necessary to concern more seriously an issue of preservation of the heritage and in the shortest terms to carry out full reconstruction of historical instructions of the Old Crimea town, which are preserved up to now, but at the present are in a catastrophic condition.

Mohammed Taha in his performance suggested to create a special commission which could study all historical property of
Crimea and estimate condition of the monuments.

Inquiry: Old
Crimea town or as it was also named – Solhat, appeared in the XIII century. The town blossoming took place in the XIV century. During this period Solhat was large shopping centre on the Silk Way from
Asia to
Europe, actively grew and was under construction. Then some mosques and medrese which remained up to now were built. According to one of versions, the great sultan of the Mamluk Egypt Beybars was the native of Solhat. Becoming the governor of
Egypt, he sent generous gifts to his native town; in particular on its means one of the town mosques was built.

The main sights of the town are constructions of the XIII—XIV centuries. The mosque of the Khan Uzbek which still operates is well preserved up to now. Nearby there are ruins of a mosque of Beybars which is considered to be the most ancient mosque of
Crimea. In the eastern part of the town are located ruins of a mint, a caravan-shed and a mosque of Kurshum-Dzhami.
