Dear brothers and sisters in faith!

From the bottom of our hearts, let us congratulate us all upon the arrival of a very special period for each Muslim, the Holy month of Ramadan! We all strive to be better all year long, not just during one month — but it’s during this specific period that task becomes the easiest, for God Almighty simplified it for us greatly. Allah's Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained."

So, during Ramadan we can’t blame “the devil’s work”, for during this very month every decision we take, every word and deed is ours and ours only. It’s only up to us what our deeds during Ramadan are!

Fasting is the time of spiritual purification for Muslims. It is time for rethinking and getting closer to God. However, in our emphasis on refraining from food, drink, and marital relations during the daylight hours, we should not forget many other important aspects of this sacred time. The Creator warns us from the month of His Prophet: “"Whoever does not give up forged speech and evil actions, Allah is not in need of his leaving his food and drink (i.e. Allah will not accept his fasting.)"

So let us not forget, when doing our everyday chores, to serve God properly and concentrate upon our prayers and spiritual improvement!
