One mustn’t forget about faith in God and relying upon Him during the prayer — such was the main message of Mr,Muhammad Mamutov’s (Imam of Zaporizhzhya ICC Mosque) speech at the meeting of heads of religious organisations and public leaders. People often pray for something without much belief their prayers are heard.
The event called “The Meal Of Unity. Peace And Consent Are The Basis Of Creation” was held on August 5, initiated by Lukas, the archbishop of Zaporizhzhya and Melitopol, and supported by the Region Council's Department For culture, Tourism, Nationalities and Religions.
Addressing the audience of dozens of heads of religious organisation and public persons, the Imam stressed the importance of improving ourselves, as the old fact “If you want to change the world, start with yourself” is still timely. The Holy Qur’an has the verse with the same meaning as well: “ Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves” [13:11].
The participants concurred that peace and security are timeless values for any society, and they can be achieved only es a result of settling and strengthening friendly relations between people of different background, based on human values. And they’ as the leaders of different social institutions, feel their personal responsibility for developing those values in the society. This position found its reflection in a resolution adopted unanimously. The signatories expressed their hope that this initiative will be adopted by other people who feel responsible for maintaining integrity of Ukraine and unity of Ukrainian nation as well.
