An extended-format Mawlid for more than 80 guests was held at Odessa Islamic Cultural Centre on February 8. ICC management, supported by the Cultural Department of AUASO “Alraid”, set a goal to not only tell about Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) as a noble model for behaviour, but also point up the importance of each muslim’s personal example.

Almost everybody knows that inviting people to Islam is an obligation for every Muslim. Few Muslims, however, fully realise that people rather watch what you do than listen to what you say. You can tell endless stories about the right things the Qur’an and Sunna teach people to do, but who takes you seriously if you don’t practice these things yourself? Or worse, what if they decide that Islam is the religion of Hypocrites who don’t do anything of what they call others to do.

Besides, some Muslim forget that extremities are alien for Islam, as this is the religion of “the golden mean”.

All these issues were raised in the lectures of Head of Odessa ICC Mr. Bilal Hamze, Head of Vinnitsa ICC Mr. Musa Salim, and Head of the RAMU “Umma” Shariah Committee Shaikh Imad Abu-r-Rubb.

In conclusion, a short film about Muhammad’s (peace and blessings be upon him) life was demonstrated, followed by explanations by Shaikh Imad.
