Kiev Muslims conducted the meeting on the subject of children's upbringing in non-Muslim society
Sheikh Imad Abu Al-Rub, Imam of the ISCC, gave his advices concerning children’s upbringing.

Kiev, May, 13. - Concern for our children's upbringing is one of the major tasks assigned to Muslim families and Islamic organizations working in Europe. This task remains pressing in Islamic countries too, but in conditions of non-Muslim society where believers face a lot of problems this question gets vital importance.

On May, 13, in Islamic social cultural center (ISCC) in Kiev was conducted the seminar on the subject "Upbringing of Muslim children in non-Muslim society", timed to the international Mother's Day. The seminar was organized by the social organization "An-Noor" and female organization "Maryam".

The chairman of organization "An-Noor" Muhammad Ighbariya said, "The purpose of the seminar is to define bases and principles of Islamic upbringing which should be followed by parents while bringing up their children and to give them general practical advices taking into account the features of European conditions and its influence on our children's upbringing".

Their advices concerning children's upbringing gave Imam of the ISCC sheikh Imad Abu Al-Rub and candidate of psychology, children's psychologist Yanina Omelchenko.

Sheikh Imad Al-Rub devoted his report to the issue of mutual relations of children and parents and gave his advices how to avoid bad influence of the society on still undeveloped child's outlook. Sheikh Imad has also specified that only Islamic principles should be the basis of our children's upbringing, but at the same time they should not be isolated from the society in which they live. And getting to the collective of non-Muslim children he should understand the value of Christianity in their countries and respect it, at the same time remaining faithful to Islam. Sheikh has also emphasized that parents should assiduously impart Islamic morals to their children and be role-models for them in this aspect.

Yanina Omelchenko began her report with the words of gratitude to all present parents for their aspiration to learn and to teach children. Despite of being a non-Muslim she has noted the wisdom of Islamic approach to children's upbringing, since most of sheikh Imad's advices corresponded to advices of modern psychologists.

The main topic of her report was establishment of confidential relations between parents and their children. From her words it became obvious that this process is not instantaneous. In fact, in order to become a good parent it is necessary to desire the child before he is born, to care of him when he is still in his mother's womb. The trust of a child is merited for many years of constant care of him, displaying genuine interest to his life and hobbies. The psychologist gave a number of practical instructions how to become the good father to the child; and to become his friend is the best award to the parent.

After the lectures and answers to questions organizers of the seminar changed from the theory to practice and have carried out some competitions for parents and their children.
